As a result, each of the road vehicles has to pay 7 pound. It computes the exact payment (about 711 pound) for delivering the cargo from the coal mine directly to the power plant, deducts the already given 732 pounds, and comes up 21 pound short. Here, the game detects that the coal is being delivered to its final destination. Next, three road vehicles take the coal, and deliver it to the power plant at station C. It finds that 732 English pound is a fair amount, and assigns that to the train as virtual money. When the train arrives at station B and transfers the coal, the game makes an estimate of how much you should get paid. The game does not know where coal loaded into the train is going. The payment for all delivered cargo no matter how it gets to its destination is done by a fixed rule (see for all the detail on the game mechanics page).īasically, you get paid by the straight distance from source (the coal mine) to destination (the power plant), and you get fined for slower delivery from source to destination. There is an image example on that page to which this quote refers. Ideally you don't do that in practice, though. I'm a little less confident that this is right when you take cargo a long distance out of the way on the way to its destination station, though. It also means that if there is a slow train, or bus, or tram, or truck, or the like at the very end of the trip, that vehicle may earn a substantial negative sum on its accounting stats even though it is moving a lot of cash into your bank account. This means that your per-train earnings can exceed your actual income, if enough cargo is accumulating at transfer stations. When C is also the ending point, the money hits your bank account. When the train delivers cargo to its next destination, the amount the train has earned is computed as A to C distance, A to C time, minus the existing transfer credits. This amount is attached to each piece of transferred cargo as a "transfer credit". Notably, it does not apply that number to your bank balance. You will see a number that says "Transfer: $X" for this figure. It takes that number, multiplies it by a percentage (configurable in settings) and applies that number to the train's annual earnings figure. When a train drops off cargo at B, the system calculates the A-to-B distance and overall cargo time. Someone please correct the inevitable subtle error.
